I am unaware of any rust or major bodyrepairs. I appears that the trunk floor was undercoated inside the trunk priorto my ownership. I have maintained it with trunk paint through the years. 2005 scion tc review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. This little rocket was developed in only 13 months with a single purpose in mind.  the scion tc means to make mincemeat of the honda civic that is so popular with gen y drivers by offering a single, very well equipped model at a nearly unbeatable low price and a menu of options that will allow owners to built cars unique to their tastes.  the engine is quiet, smooth, and plenty powerful. The steering, ride quality and handling are commendable. Braking is powerful, with abs and electronic brake force distribution standard. This car is surprisingly quiet, the interior materials are first-rate, and attention to detail is evident. The bucket seats are comfortable and there's enough room to suit tall drivers. A 160-watt stereo is standard, and a full array of airbags is available.  this is perhaps the best small japanese coupe we have ever driven, at a price that is ridiculously low. lineupthe scion tc hatchback coupe 15,950) comes only one way, with no model name attached. (they apparently couldn't call it xc because volvo already uses xc90 for its sport utility). It comes with all the major comfort and convenience items built in, including air conditioning, power steering, brakes, locks and mirrors, a tilt wheel, a 160-watt pioneer 6-cd changer am/fm setup, sport bucket seats with cloth seating and position memory, two-tiered console, reclining front and rear seats, keyless entry, engine immobilizer, cargo cover, and a dozen other items.  there are only two factory-installed options, the automatic transmission at $845 and the side and roof air bag system for $650. To make the car more palatable to more people, scion has chosen a menu of 40 different freestanding options, more than any other car in its class, ranging from a $4500 supercharger kit good for 200 horsepower to a selection of different chrome and leather shift knobs. Special toyota racing development (trd) high-performance items for the scion tc include 18- and 19-inch wheels, a lowering kit, struts and shock absorbers, rear anti-roll bar, a high-performance clutch, a quick shifter, a stainless steel muffler, and a shift-point indicator light kit. Toyota's high-performance arm is already working on a 300-horsepower package of parts for the lunatic fringe. walkaroundthe look of the scion tc is one of purposeful performance. It's not blatant, and it doesn't come with spoilers, rocker moldings or wings, but all the ingredients are there. The standard panorama glass roof is an unexpected bonus in this price class, fitted without gaskets for a tight, no-creaks fit. It filters 97 percent of uv rays and 100 percent of infrared, to avoid damage to occupants.  the doors are quite long for such a small car, and the door handles of the reach-around-and-pull variety that we like. The long rear side window suggests a two-door sedan more than a hatchback coupe, and makes the design flow from front to rear gracefully. The tc is the first purpose-built scion, the other two having been developed from concept vehicles, and although it is inexpensive, it is anything but cheap. interiorinside the scion tc, there are lots more positive surprises. Materials are first-rate, there aren't a whole lot of different grains and textures, and the swoopy brushed-metal center stack housing vents, sound system and climate control system, is a marvel of modern design. Very comfortable, with enough fore/aft adjustment to suit very tall american drivers regardless of age. The driver's and shotgun seats can be reclined all the way down into what scion calls a 'sleep' position, and the rear seats recline through 10 stops and 45 degrees of recline to convert the interior into a conversation bin. With seats up, there's more than 26 inches of cargo length there; with the second seats dropped, almost 60 inches; and with the front passenger seat folded over, almost 104 inches of cargo length available.  there are lots of convincing little touches indoors, like the mechanical seat position memory on the front bucket seats, the 60/40 split folding rear seat, the very decent amount of storage space with the seats down, the dead pedal for the driver's left foot, fully closing vents, and a cover for the stereo system's faceplate. The three-pod instrument panel is amber-illuminated, deeply tunneled and easy to use, day or night, as are the balance of the instruments and controls. driving impressionthe engine in the scion tc has been around in one form or another as a car and truck powerplant for many years, continuously improved for power, torque, and toyota levels of quietness and reliability. It comes with electronic variable valve timing for good low end torque development, and twin balance shafts for smoothness. Tuned to 160 horsepower and 163 foot-pounds of torque for this application, the engine is quiet, smooth, and plenty powerful in a 2900-pound car, and at full throttle, it sounds powerful without being intrusive, because it has a valved muffler that opens up at high rpm and can be worth as much as 5 horsepower.  the transmission gearing in the automatic that we drove for this test is wholly unsuitable for bigtime acceleration, with an overall ratio of just over 10:1 (the first-gear ratio times the axle ratio), while the manual is almost 50 percent lower, almost 15:1, for maximum acceleration in first gear. However, the automatic does move out smartly, it's obviously much easier to live with in gooey traffic, and will get significantly better highway mileage than the manual, which is saddled with a very low 4. 235 axle ratio. No complaints on the powertrain.  the steering, ride quality and overall handling of the scion tc were commendable, in part due to its 106-inch wheelbase, longest in the class. It steers with a hefty touch, but accurate pointing, and transitions are easy and without drama. That's because the tc has low-cost macpherson strut front suspension coupled with an expensive independent double-wishbone rear suspension not found on many cars in this price class. Bridgestone potenza tires originally developed for the hot-rod lexus is 300 are standard.  braking is accomplished with a combination of ventilated front and sold rear discs, 10. 8 inches front and 10. 6 inches rear, generously sized and quite powerful for a car this light, with both abs and electronic brake force distribution built into the standard price. A true mercedes in a smaller size. introductionthe mercedes-benz c-class is the most compact and least expensive of the brand's sedan offerings. Yet it's no less a mercedes-benz. For drivers who want something sportier, the sport models provide that. Those want a street-legal racecar can order an amg version.  the c-class is a terrific driving experience; great driver feedback through the steering, rock-solid, and so stable it's very difficult to get into trouble, and delivering to the driver a superb grasp, both literally and figuratively, on what the car is doing. The c350 comes with a 268-hp 3. 5-liter v6. The racy c63 amg features a 451-hp 6. 2-liter v8.  compared with luxury models, sport versions use wider rear tires and wheels, sit more than half an inch lower, use firmer suspension settings, and get a three-spoke steering wheel. Sport sedans use a different grille with the mercedes-benz ringed star in it as opposed to the luxury with the star on the hood, and sport models use amg-style deeper front air dams, side skirts and rear aprons. Amg version are distinguished by unique styling cues.  the c-class is not a big car, so tall drivers and business-people who routinely transport clients may find they need something bigger, such as an e-class. Most of the trim, all the way down to the mercedes-benz badges in the front floor mats, is low-glare so errant reflections don't distract or dazzle the driver, and assembly quality is first-rate.  front seats are electrically adjusted with heaters available and with the tilt/telescoping steering wheel (powered, with driver memory as standard on c350 and c63) provide good support and driving position; those of larger sizes may find the sport seat. With the segment's only rear-hinged side access doors, the regular cab gives excellent recline space and an easy reach to everything dropped behind the seat. At the other end of the scale, premium models include two-tone leather seats, polished 22-inch wheels and other touches: within those extremes lies something for everyone.  2008 marks the first availability of an xl-grade supercrew with 5. 5- or 6. 5-foot bed: maximum people space with a work truck ethic. Detail changes for 2008 run the gamut from functional to decorative, the latter a wheels and stripes package for stx models, the former a standard tachometer for xl and stx with manual transmission, tire pressure monitors on the heavy-duty package, plus the availability of a cargo management system, remote start, telescoping towing mirrors, and a rearview camera (that does not require purchase of a navigation system).  with one of the deepest beds in the half-ton pickup segment, the f-150 has generous cargo volume out back and a maximum payload rating of 3,050 pounds. A foose edition f-150 designed by hot-rod master chip foose will be available as a late-2008 model. The base f-150 xl 17,345) is a short, regular cab two-wheel drive. It doesn't look larger than last year's mdx, but it is in fact several inches longer and wider. That makes it among the largest vehicles of its type. From its wild new grille to its elaborately stylish cat's-eye headlamps to its huge new taillamps, it's got a more muscular look compared to the original, especially in the areas around the tires. Sporty styling cues include the big, fat dual exhaust tips that look like they belong on a v8, and the hefty five-spoke alloy wheels. Even the acura badge in the grille has been changed, and is now twice as big as it once was.  the seats are laid out in three rows of two, offering seating for up to seven people. The location of the tailgate's motor is the d pillar, not the roof, which yields more headroom for the third-row occupants. The tailgate can also be operated manually. interiorthe acura mdx has a completely new interior decor for 2007. It's designed with driver-centric instrumentation and displays. The two-line readout display for the climate control and entertainment systems uses large segmented figures and is very easy to read and interpret. There is scant rear legroom in the third row for adults; the third row is strictly for kids. In spatial terms, the interior has 142. 2 cubic feet of passenger space. There's 15 cubic feet of cargo behind the third seat, 43 cubic feet with the third row seats folded into the floor, and 83. 5 cubic feet with all seats down. With the five-speed automatic, the mdx is rated to tow up to 5000 pounds.  the 2007 acura mdx benefits from a completely new platform, suspension, and unit-construction body with a built-in frame and subframes front and rear. The mdx is really stout, some 15 percent stronger in torsional bending and seven percent stronger in lateral bending. This time out, it has 56 percent of its body in high-strength steel as opposed to the original mdx's 13-percent hsla steel content. It's longer and wider, with a 2. 5-inch longer wheelbase and similar gain in overall length.  all that adds up to a quieter ride quality, with zero squeaks, creaks, groans or rattles.  the 300-hp 3. 7-liter v6 engine is all-new for this application. Compared to the old 3. 5-liter, it has been treated to a hot-rod upgrade, with a bigger bore, bigger stroke, higher compression (11:1, necessitating the use of premium unleaded fuel), and a higher redline (maximum rpm). It makes 47 more horsepower and 25 additional pound-feet of torque compared to the old engine. Acura says it's the most powerful v6 engine in any suv sold in the u. It's quick, fast, and quiet, like every acura engine before it, only more so.  one very significant development has come underneath the lithe lines of the mdx, and that's the active damper system in the sport package option. These are the fastest-acting shock absorbers in the world, used by cadillac, ferrari, corvette, and audi, and they make driving an suv much more sporty, with a flatter ride and less body roll in the corners. A console-mounted switch lets the driver select between sport and comfort modes with the shocks. With the additional power and torque available from the new engine, and the amazing capabilities of the acura super handling all-wheel-drive (sh-awd) system already on board, we wouldn't order an mdx without this new technology.  we drove the mdx in the hill country of western pennsylvania and eastern west virginia, and found it to be a delightful traveling partner. The torque-sensing variable power rack-and-pinion steering provided the right amount of help in every situation from parking to very high speed interstate travel, with nice weight at the wheel and good center behavior.
